Light-weight constructions

The company Amberplastic, UAB produces glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) self-supporting roof constructions for various capacity tanks (from 5 m to 40 m in diameter). These constructions have the following features:

  • They are corrosion-free;

  • They do not require any maintenance;

  • They are 60% lighter than steel roofs of the same size, which enables the tank to bear the weight of roof, and any equipment assembled to it, without any additional strengthening.

  • Roof sheets are able to be attached to the supporting construction more quickly and conveniently – from the top (whereas steel sheets are attached from underneath).

  • The weight of the construction has been reduced to a minimum in such a way that it can bear any loads required under local construction legislation.

  • The construction can be made leak-proof (all condensate on the inside surface of the construction will flow back into the tank) or it can be made to withstand a certain amount of pressure.

  • The shape of the roof sheets is designed in such a way that they can be mounted watertight to standard I-shaped steel beams (160x80, 200x100, 240x120, 300x150 mm), even to any rectangular or even round beams.

  • Depending on the requirements for mechanical loads on the roof, the thickness of the roof material, and likewise the weight per 1 m² of it, may vary from 2 mm (5 kg/m²) to 5 mm (10 kg/m²).

The construction consists only of three elements: beams, roofing sheets and the supporting ring.

Amberplastic, UAB specialists can offer a technical solution on how to replace the whole roof construction by a new one even in cases where there is no technical possibility of changing the attachment points of the old construction.
